Intervention: Engage Series II APOD – High Profile
Outcome: Patient is now able to sit stably and comfortably in wheelchair for several hours; able to maintain upright and midline position without requiring repositioning. Increased functional ability to eat and swallow with decreased risk of aspiration. Patient engages in environment; marked improvement in disposition.
Caregiver's perspective: "The PostureWorks provides us with a whole new avenue for positioning that we didn’t have before. We have used it with our most difficult positioning residents and they are all sitting beautifully. We were able to remove our most challenging resident from a geri-chair, where he had to be repositioned several times an hour, and returned him to a wheelchair by using the PostureWorks. Now he sits up, he smiles, and he interacts with his environment. He is truly a new man!"
