"The PostureWorks products are great – they immediately solved 2 of our most difficult client wheelchair positioning problems. Each of these clients has been on case load multiple times and we tried everything at our disposal without success. Our most difficult client previously had to be repositioned by nursing every 20 – 30 minutes. We put him in the PostureWorks Engage and immediately he sat up well, with a neutral pelvic position, and a nice upright and midline trunk position. "The PostureWorks Seating Orthosis has worked wonderfully for us, and is great for preventing residents from sliding out of their chair. One resident in particular has benefited dramatically from this product. This resident suffered from dementia and side effects from her medications. This caused her to have severely uncontrolled movements, to the point where she was unable to be properly positioned in a wheelchair or Geri-chair. Since we moved her over to a PostureWorks seat, everything has changed. Her movements have decreased dramatically and she is sitting upright in her chair for 6 hours at a time. In addition, her entire demeanor has changed; she is less defensive when touched and [she] interacts with her environment. I would definitely recommend other facilities to give this product a try."
"The PostureWorks Engage products are very good for patients with difficult wheelchair positioning issues. It helps position and stabilize the pelvis to promote good positioning, and evens out the sacral pressure in the process. We’ve used the Engage on a woman who was a dual hemisphere CVA – she had flaccid tone on the right side, and high tone on the left side, which created a lateral pelvic tilt and trunk rotation. She was unable to sit safely or comfortably in her wheelchair, and as a result she spent very little time out of bed. Now with the PostureWorks Engage she enjoys sitting safely and comfortably in her wheelchair again – she eats in the dining room, she socializes with her friends, and is able to get out and about and live her life."
