Thank you for choosing The PostureWorks Engage Series II orthotic wheelchair cushion. Please familiarize yourself with the proper use and care of your new PostureWorks device. WARNING: This device is intended for wheelchair positioning and pressure management only. All PostureWorks products should be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider; these products are not a substitution for proper patient supervision and care.
WARNING: The Engage Series II is designed FOR USE WITH A SLING SEAT WHEELCHAIR ONLY. The Engage Series II must be the same width and depth as the sling seat wheelchair upon which it will rest. Safety straps should be attached to the rear of the wheelchair. The USER’S FEET MUST BE PROPERLY POSITIONED AND SUPPORTED to evenly distribute weight over the back, buttocks, thighs, and feet. The Engage Series II should always be fitted and monitored by a qualified healthcare professional.
WARNING: Installation of an orthotic wheelchair cushion may affect the center of gravity of the wheelchair and cause the chair to tip backwards, resulting in injury for the occupant. Always EVALUATE THE REQUIREMENT FOR WHEELCHAIR ANTI-TIPPERS or other adaptive devices to ensure proper wheelchair stability.
WARNING: The Engage Series II is made with temperature sensitive foam. A temporary hardening of the foam may occur when the product is exposed to low temperatures. ALLOW THIS DEVICE TO ACCLIMATE TO ROOM TEMPERATURE BEFORE USING; touch the device to test for softness of foam prior to using.
INSTALLATION: The Engage Series II orthotic wheelchair cushion must be the same width and depth as the sling seat wheelchair upon which it will rest. Place the Engage Series II directly on top of the existing sling seat so that both of the lateral sides of the orthotic cushion rest directly upon the seat rails of the sling seat wheelchair.
The Engage Series II is manufactured with a strap located at the rear of the device. This strap helps secure the orthotic cushion to the wheelchair and prevent it from sliding off the front of the chair under normal use. Wrap the Engage Series II strap around the back of the wheelchair, fasten the buckles to secure the strap, and tighten the strap so the device is fitted tightly to the wheelchair.
The Engage Series II is manufactured in various sizes to fit standard size wheelchairs. The Engage Series II should fit securely on top of the sling seat wheelchair with which it will be used. If your PostureWorks device does not fit securely in the wheelchair, you may need a custom size device. To order a custom size device, please call The PostureWorks toll free at 1-866-860-5200.
ACCESSORIES: To prolong the life of your orthotic wheelchair cushion, The PostureWorks recommends using Dycem strips, or a similar barrier to cover any exposed bolts on the sling seat of the wheelchair. Exposed bolts on wheelchairs can snag the material on an orthotic wheelchair cushion and cause it to rip/tear. To order Dycem strips, please call 1-800-458-0060.
CLEANING: The Engage Series II can be cleaned using a mild detergent or water and wiped clean with a damp cloth. The device can be dried with a soft dry cloth. This product should be kept clean and dry. DO NOT IMMERSE OR SOAK IN LIQUID. When cleaning the wheelchair, the Engage Series II should be removed from the wheelchair prior to cleaning. The Engage Series II SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO RUNNING WATER OR LIQUID UNDER PRESSURE.
WARRANTY: The Engage Series II is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of eighteen (18) months from purchase under normal use.
Should a defect occur, The PostureWorks will, at its sole option, repair or replace the device without charge. This warranty does not apply to punctures, tears, or burns.
Except for express warranties made herein, all other warranties, including implied warranties or merchantability and warranties of fitness for a particular purpose are excluded.
There are not warranties which extend beyond the face hereof. Remedies for breach of express warranties herein are limited to repair or replacement of the goods. In no event shall damages for breach of any warranty include any consequential damages or exceed the cost of the non-conforming goods sold.
